Families are an integral part of the treatment team at NeuroRestorative and we encourage them to be active participants in their loved one’s rehabilitation process.
We believe that open and consistent communication is critical to ensuring that participants achieve their rehabilitative goals. To help facilitate that, families and legal guardians are offered weekly phone or email updates on their loved one’s progress, and we welcome feedback and questions. In accordance with the wishes of the participant, families are also encouraged to visit their loved one regularly and are welcome to join in special activities such as holiday celebrations.
In addition, families and guardians are invited to participate in all formal conferences with the clinical team to review progress made, establish new goals, provide input, and plan for discharge.
We understand that brain and spinal cord injury impacts not only the participant, but the entire family as well. We offer counseling – with and without the participant – for families coping with the challenges of a brain or spinal cord injury.
And when a participant is ready to transition home, we offer training for the family at our programs and in their home to make the transition as smooth and successful as possible.
“NeuroRestorative gave me hope that
there is a health care system that really cares about the participant – as well
as the family. I appreciate the guidance that was given to me on how to take
care of my loved one as well as myself.”
~ Lois, mother of a participant
