In February of 1979, then college student Jeff Perkoff was driving home from dinner with friends when he lost control of the wheel of his car. Jeff sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a result of the accident. A participant of NeuroRestorative Carbondale in Illinois for over 27 years, Jeff, now 54, has made drastic improvements, allowing him to live a rewarding and independent lifestyle – he is a proud husband and father of three. His post-acute rehabilition has also enabled him to regain much of his fine motor and physical skills. Jeff continues to meet with his life skills therapist at NeuroRestorative Carbondale twice a week and regularly spends time on wood-working projects at the program's onsite workshop.
Local southern Illinois newspaper, The Southern Illinoisan, recently featured Jeff's story. Read the article.
