NeuroRestorative’s
Frank D. Lewis, PhD, CBIST, article, “Ethics in Case Management: Making the Right Decision in Tough Times” was
published in the April/May 2011 edition of
CareManagement, the official journal
of the Academy of Certified Case Managers.
In the article, Dr. Lewis explores the topic of ethics in case management by offering historical context, reviewing the ethical principles applied to health care and offering guidelines to help case managers resolve ethical conflicts.
“Conflicts are inherent in the case manager’s responsibilities,” says Lewis. “When an ethical conflict arises, the participant’s needs must be the priority.”
Dr. Lewis is the Director of Clinical Outcome Services for NeuroRestorative and is an adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology at Augusta State University in Georgia. He is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer and has over 25 years of experience in the field of brain injury rehabilitation as an educator, researcher and administrator. He previously served as Executive Director of NeuroRestorative in Tulsa Oklahoma and Chief Operating Officer for Walton Rehabilitation Hospital in Augusta Georgia. He is the author of over 20 peer-reviewed publications and is a winner of the Leydorf Medical Clinical Review citation for best literature in the field of developmental disability.
