Katie Mathews, formerly a NeuroRestorative participant, has dedicated her life to advocating against distracted driving. At 16, Katie and a friend were in a car accident caused by cellphone usage while driving—Katie sustained a spinal cord and traumatic brain injury from the crash. As a quadriplegic, Katie received intensive rehabilitation at NeuroRestorative Avalon Park. Today, Katie lives independently and speaks regularly to audiences about the dangers of distracted driving.
