Successful Outcome Story: Katie

Katie Mathews, formerly a NeuroRestorative participant, has dedicated her life to advocating against distracted driving. At 16, Katie and a friend were in a car accident caused by cellphone usage while driving—Katie sustained a spinal cord and traumatic brain injury from the crash. As a quadriplegic, Katie received intensive rehabilitation at NeuroRestorative Avalon Park. Today, Katie lives independently and speaks regularly to audiences about the dangers of distracted driving. Katie’s story was recently featured on The Christian Broadcasting Network.
