Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty specializes in the treatment of persons
with acquired brain injury. The hospital, licensed by the Oklahoma
Department of Health, provides comprehensive, post-acute services
for individuals ages 16 and above with a primary diagnosis of
traumatic brain injury or other neurological injuries or disorders.
Appropriate Referrals
Individuals with any of the following neurological conditions are
appropriate referrals:

Traumatic or acquired brain injury, including viral encephalitis,
meningitis, aneurysms, cerebral vascular accidents/stroke,
post-operative tumors, anoxia, hypoxia, toxic encephalopathy,
seizure disorders, congenital neurological disorders, etc.

Mild to severe behavioral deficits secondary to brain injury.

Dependent in activities of daily living (ADLs), non-ambulatory,
feeding tube dependent and able to follow simple commands.
Persons referred must be medically stable for active participation
in specialized, inpatient or outpatient treatment.
Specialized Services
» Comprehensive Post-Acute Rehabilitation Services - for post-acute
patients needing a comprehensive inpatient program focused on
developing functional skills needed to return to home and to
community. Interdisciplinary therapy services are provided in a
highly structured, home-like setting with twenty-four hour nursing
coverage and appropriate medical services.
» Behavior Stabilization Services - for patients who have
significant neuro-behavioral deficits resulting from injury to the
brain. These services focus on developing appropriate behavior
patterns rather than simply managing the problem, while
participating in therapeutic activities.
» Community Re-entry Services - for post-acute patients demonstrating
higher-level functional skills but still requiring a structured
inpatient setting to ensure safety. These services are designed
to assist the patient make the transition back to home and community
by utilizing a variety of living and community environments for
generalization and acquisition of necessary skills.
» Specialized Outpatient Therapeutic Services - for individuals who
are able to live at home but need comprehensive, targeted therapies
on a daily or weekly basis to enhance or reinforce abilities in
particular functional areas. Various diagnostic/evaluation services
are also available, including behavioral, neuropsychological,
vocational and driving assessments.

Treatment is provided using an interdisciplinary team approach
that may include specialists from the following areas:

Case Management
A Program Case Manager oversees each treatment plan to assure the
most appropriate level of treatment, communication, discharge
planning and follow-up. An on-site attending physician oversees
the medical needs of each client.

Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Tulsa
community offers a variety of settings ideal for community
integration. Oklahoma NeuroSpecialty is easily accessible to a
broad regional area that includes the entire state of Oklahoma and
parts of Kansas and Missouri, and Northwest Arkansas.
