FY 2014: Q2 Heroes

EdwardsCentral Region
Harry Edwards
Residential Supervisor, NeuroRestorative Carbondale
10 years of service with NeuroRestorative

Harry Edwards is the definition of a team player.  As Residential Supervisor at NeuroRestorative Carbondale, Harry regularly steps up to do things that will benefit the group, especially for the LSTs he supervises. Recently, Carbondale was hit with severe winter weather forcing many local businesses to shut their doors. Knowing his staff did not have that option, Harry borrowed a company van and to make sure every LST got to and from work safely. Harry’s selfless decision ensured the individuals in the home received the support they needed in even the worst of weather conditions.

“Harry took it upon himself to come in over the weekend, borrow a company vehicle and drive staff to and from work. Without his help I do not know what we would have done and this is not the first time Harry has stepped up to support the team.  He is a true NeuroRestorative Hero,” said Garrett Cook, Harry’s nominator and supervisor.

Destiny Carlson
Nursing Supervisor/Administrator, NeuroRestorative Pennsylvania
5 years of service with NeuroRestorative

Her commitment and dedication to the individuals she serves makes Destiny Carlson a perfect example of aNeuroRestorative Hero.  Nominated by her supervisor, Scott Jenco, Destiny was originally hired as an LPN but was quickly promoted to Nursing Supervisor. Destiny leads by example, always going above and beyond for the individuals she serves and those she supervises. When a longtime participant recently transitioned to a hospice center, Destiny was instrumental in finding a center to assist NeuroRestorative staff in making the participants time as comfortable and familiar as possible. She spent her personal time providing one-on-one care to the participant, and provided the family with constant updates and education about his condition. In addition, she organized specialized grief training for the staff to be able to best support the other participants in the home.

“Whether she is coordinating staff schedules or orientation for new hires, sitting down and talking to a family member, or coming into the program during her vacation time, Destiny consistently displays her commitment to our participants and her dedication to NeuroRestorative Pennsylvania,” said Jenco, Program Director, NeuroRestorative Pennsylvania.

Tammy Davenport
House Manager, NeuroRestorative Tennessee
10 years of service with NeuroRestorative

According to Dave Dixon, Tammy Davenport’s nominator and NeuroRestorative Tennessee Program Director, Tammy’s title of House Manager does not begin to define her role at NeuroRestorative Tennessee. A 10-year veteran of the Supported Living program, Tammy has forged meaningful relationships with many of the participants and their family members.  Always thinking about others, Tammy has been known to bring the participants fresh-squeezed juice from the local juice bar and likes to have a basket full of treats on her desk for her team. Tammy dedication is admired by her co-workers and her support is felt by every individual she serves.

“Tammy cares about every individual she serves, their family members and her staff.  The love she has for what she does is apparent to everyone around her. We are so thankful, and lucky, to have Tammy as part of our NeuroRestorative Tennessee team,” said Dixon.
