Overview:
NeuroRestorative® Specialty Services at UTHCT offer a specialized continuum of care providing therapeutic services for individuals who have suffered a neurological impairment due to acquired brain injury secondary to trauma, tumor, stroke, anoxia, degenerative or infectious disorder.
We seek to progress individuals through a treatment plan designed to achieve specific, individualized skills necessary for a successful outcome. We accept funding from the Department of Assistive Rehabilitative Services (DARS) formerly The Texas Rehabilitation Commission (TRC).
Environment:
NeuroRestorative® Specialty Services at The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler offer a spectrum of living environments from highly structured in-patient care to transitional and long term community settings. Each progressive environment provides less structure to eventually approximate the client’s optimal discharge setting while allowing clinical teams to observe and prescribe necessary treatment, adaptive equipment, and safe living conditions for individuals and families.
Located at the University of Texas Health Center in Tyler, Texas, our Behavior Stabilization and Restorative Services offer an inpatient treatment program designed to meet the special needs of persons recovering from acquired brain injuries. The hospital-based setting offers a safe and secure environment with the availability of medical resources not found in traditional post-acute inpatient settings.
Community integrated living settings provide the framework for our Transitional and Restorative Services and our Specialized Community Living Services. These services are designed to provide a range of services to assist clients in their return to home and community. Outpatient Day Treatment Services are also offered for local area residents not requiring an inpatient setting. The treatment team uses the community to help individuals generalize skills for re-entry. Tyler is located conveniently to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and East Texas.
Teams:
Comprehensive services from an interdisciplinary team of licensed professionals assist individuals along a course to greater independence. A clinical team may include professionals from the disciplines of: physiatry, family practice, nursing, behavior analysis, neuropsychology, psychology, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, counseling, education, vocational rehabilitation and case management. Our clinical teams use an individualized approach to meet the specific needs of each client. This team approach also serves individuals with severe skill deficits and potentially dangerous maladaptive behaviors who may require intense behavioral programming.
