Deborah Gutteridge, a clinical evaluator and case manager for NeuroRestorative, was presented with the Award of Service Excellence on Tuesday, June 17 by the Case Management Society of America (CMSA). The presentation was held at the CMSA’s 2014 Conference & Expo at the Cleveland Convention Center and Global Center for Healthcare Innovation in Cleveland, Ohio.

This national award is given to a practicing case manager who exemplifies the essence of the role—innovation, creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness. It recognizes an in-the-trenches, grassroots case manager whose day-to-day practice has transformed the field and contributed to the greater good—not only for their clients, but also for their community.
“CMSA could not have picked a more deserving person to receive the Award of Service Excellence,” said Chris Williamson, regional vice president for NeuroRestorative’s Central Division. “Deborah advocates with a passion that few can duplicate, and does so in an effort to obtain services for individuals with brain injuries at NeuroRestorative and within the community. She collaborates with other agencies to ensure that people with traumatic brain injury get the services they need to be successful in their rehabilitation efforts. Her passion and commitment should be an example to all individuals who work within the field of brain injury rehabilitation.”
Deborah has over 27 years of experience in the field of case management, namely in practice settings ranging from state vocational rehabilitation to acute inpatient rehabilitation and post-acute rehabilitation. In addition to her life-changing work with NeuroRestorative, she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City, and on the Case Management Society of America-Kansas City Chapter. Deborah has been published for both periodical and journal articles on the practice of case management, and has been involved in the Case Management Society of America for 16 years, serving in both local and national capacities.
“There is no greater honor than that of recognition by your peers,” Deborah said. “I am very blessed to work in such a passionate and endearing profession, and to have been able to be such an active member in CMSA on both the local and national levels.”
